Pitch sale: “Untitled Elan Mastai project”
Paramount Pictures snares rom-com pitch from writer Elan Mastai:
The breakup comedy is about a young woman who gets dumped by her ostensible soulmate and refuses to get over it. Adam Goodman and Ashley Brucks of Paramount are overseeing for the studio.
Mastai developed the project with “This American Life” host Ira Glass. I’m always interested in what’s happening with Glass, so I checked out IMDB. He’s got Untitled Cryonics Project (2010) in pre-production (doubtless based on a great “Life” story from some years ago), and in development Urban Tribes and Wenceslas Square. Per IMDBpro.com:
Urban Tribes (Warner Bros.): “A man attempts to subvert his girlfriend’s desire to get married by introducing her to a hip alternative to commitment.”
Wenceslas Square (Endgame Entertainment): “A pair of spies fall for each other while on separate missions.”
Interesting to see Glass move into fiction.
Mastai is repped by Gersh and Principato-Young.
