Popcorn Fiction: “After the Fire” by Alicia Gifford
From screenwriter Derek Haas and his excellent website Popcorn Fiction:
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day, or whatever you celebrated last weekend for you non-Americans. Our new story this week is “After The Fire,” by talented author Alicia Gifford. It’s not quite as hard-boiled as most of the crime fiction I publish here, but it’s an excellent character study and had an impact I felt for days after reading it. Really a great piece of short fiction, so set some time apart to dig into this one. I hope you enjoy it, and do let me know what you think. — DH
P.S. A few weeks back we ran a story by Matthew David Brozik called “A Good Lie.” Well, the author has recorded an audio version of the story, so if you haven’t read the story, or always wondered what Brozik sounded like reading his own tale, then check it out here: http://www.imdb.name/GoodLie.html ! Thanks and have a great week!
