Hello, PF readers!

I first met novelist Sam Reaves at the LA Crime Book Convention last spring. We spoke about our mutual affection for pulpy crime fiction and afterward, I read his excellent novel MEAN TOWN BLUES . I then contacted him about writing a short story for the site, and he gave me the clever “Here I Sit, Broken-Hearted,” which we ran last year. I continue to be impressed by his writing, and so now am very pleased to publish his second story for our site, The Settlement.” It centers on a clever woman who comes home from a bender to find a hit man waiting for her in her bathroom.
