Popcorn Fiction: “Not a Poe Fan” by Brian Koppelman

The latest from screenwriter Derek Haas and his short story site Popcorn Fiction:

Great story here for you this week. You might not know the name Brian Koppelman, but you know his movies…and the one thing his movies all have in common, rich, well-drawn characters with a dark side. Plus, it’s safe to say, the guy knows a little something about degenerate gamblers. “Not a Poe Fan” is an excellent crime story about the haggle between a bookmaker’s heavy and a sucker who can’t make his payments. Of course, it wouldn’t be popcorn fiction if it didn’t launch to a whole ‘nother level from there.

Koppleman’s screenwriting credits include Walking Tall, Runaway Jury and Ocean’s 13.
