Popcorn Fiction: “The Bootlegger” by Jesse Zigelstein

Another short story from the excellent site Popcorn Fiction, hosted by screenwriter and novelist Derek Haas:

I’m always interested in worlds I knew nothing about…even in genre short fiction. This story by television writer Jesse Zigelstein focuses on bootlegging in Toronto during World War II, as the criminal element moved in to fill the void left by war rationing. It’s one of the longer stories I’ve published, but it’s a real character study and I thoroughly enjoyed the way it unfolded. Carve out some time and read this story. Just don’t do it while drinking illegal whiskey.
