“‘Porcelain Unicorn’ Wins Phillips Parallel Lines Short Film Competition”

Phillips sponsored the Parallel Lines short film competition, in which participants had only the following lines of dialogue with which to tell a short story on film:
What’s That?
It’s a Unicorn.
Never seen one up close before.
Beautiful.
Get away, get away.
I’m sorry.
The Grand Prize winner, chosen by Ridley Scott, was Keegan Wilcox, whose “Porcelain Unicorn”. The trick is to get your characters communicating without dialogue. Wilcox used gesture and eye contact.

An evocative short film, don’t you think? A reminder once again that movies are primarily a visual medium, therefore as screenwriters, it is incumbent on us to think and write visually.
