Reader Question: What is the best day job to have while writing spec scripts?

From Charlotte:

I have a question: I browsed your Q&A section, and I searched for the words “job” (as in day job). I didn’t find anything. What I’m curious about is — in your opinion, what is the best type of day job to have (with benefits) while writing scripts and waiting for the big break?

That’s a great question. My quick answer: Stand-up comedian. Why? Because that’s what I was doing when I wrote and sold the spec script K-9.

How about you? What day jobs best facilitate writing?
