Screenwriting Master Class tip of the week: Perhaps there is no subject related to screenwriting less understood than theme. Is it the story premise? The moral of the story? A story’s DNA? The confusion is compounded by the fact theme is critical for a writer to be able to craft an effective story that resonates with readers.
This 2-week online Core class enables writers to develop a deeper understanding of theme — what it is, how it functions, and most importantly how to use themes to enrich the quality of your storytelling abilities.
- You will learn a coherent take on theme, how it relates to the overall story, and tips on how to weave thematic material into your scripts.
- You will put to use what you have learned by workshopping some of your own script scenes, developing your own ability at working with story themes.
