Spec Script Deal: “Furby”

The Weinstein Company acquires family comedy spec script “Furby” written by Daniel Persitz and Devon Kliger. From Wired:

The film will be a live-action/CGI hybrid, according to toymaker Hasbro executives Stephen Davis and Josh Feldman. Davis said Furby would “resonate as a four-quadrant film,” and “it can’t just be a 90-minute commercial”.

By my count, this is the 62nd spec script deal in 2016.

There were 52 spec script deals year-to-date in 2015.

Spec deals are up 16% this year over last.
