Spec Script Deal: “Space Race”

Universal Pictures acquires spec script “Space Race” written by Daniel Kunka. From Deadline:

The spec logline is being kept under wraps, but it’s described as a high concept with four-quadrant tentpole potential.

Kunka, who over the years has sold multiple spec scripts and made the Black List twice, is repped by ICM Partners and Madhouse Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 19th spec script deal in 2017.

There were 13 spec script deals year-to-date in 2016.

This represents a 46% increase in deals this year compared to last.
