Spec Script Deal: “The Caretaker”

Screen Gems has acquired thriller spec script “The Caretaker”, written by Duncan Samarasinghe. From Deadline:

Set in the future amid a violent robot uprising that pits man against machine, The Caretaker follows a lifelike female android who chooses to protect a young girl. The bond forged along the journey to reunite the girl with her missing father might be the only thing that can stem the tide of war.

The script was a finalist for a 2014 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting.

Samarasinghe is repped by UTA and Old Soul Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 12th spec script deal in 2016.

There were 17 spec script deals year-to-date in 2015.
