Spec Script Deal: “The Claim”

Motion Picture Capital, Oceanside Media, and Route One Entertainment acquire thriller spec script “The Claim” written by Damien Chazelle. From Variety:

The thriller, which made the Black List in 2010, centers on a single father with a criminal background who must uncover the whereabouts of his kidnapped daughter while fighting the mysterious claims of another couple who insist that the child is theirs.

It is an option deal.

Chazelle is repped by WME and Exile Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 16th spec script deal in 2017.

There were 11 spec script deals year-to-date in 2016.

This represents a 45% increase in deals this year compared to last.
