Spec Script Deal: “The Englishman”

Working Title is in talks with Paul Dano to star in drama thriller spec script “The Englishman” written by Luke Garrett. From Deadline:

Working Title is positioning this as much more of a thriller, with Dano likely to play an ambitious young Stasi officer who is handed his chance to advance within the system by unmasking The Englishman, a peerless assassin whose identity is unknown to even those who hire him.

Garrett is repped by ICM Partners.

By my count, this is the 70th spec script deal in 2016.

There were 55 script deals year-to-date in 2015.

Spec script deals are up 21% this year over last.
