Spec Script Deals Analysis 2015: Top Sales

Continuing our week long analysis of spec script sales from 2015, today we look at the deals with the biggest payoffs (at least as reported by various news outlets):

Humbug — Family Fantasy
Todd Jones, Earl Ritchey Jones — High six figures against low seven-figures

Ascension — Science Fiction
Shannon Triplett — Mid-six against seven figures

A Meyers Thanksgiving — Comedy
David E. Talbert — Mid-six against seven figures

The Leviathan — Science Fiction
Jim Uhls — Mid-six against seven figures

Bed Rest — Thriller
Lori Evans Taylor — Mid-six figures

Realm — Action Horror
Rebecca Sonnenshein — Mid-six figures

Senior Year — Comedy
Andrew Knauer, Arthur Pielli — Mid-six figures

Undone — Legal Thriller
Melissa London Hilfers — Mid-six figures

There were several more deals with no sales price reported, but were acquired in competitive bidding situations or preemptive purchases including Bounty, Verona, The Edge of Normal, Untitled Adolph Eichmann, and Claire.

Interesting that 3 of the 8 top sales were penned by women, a much higher percentage than the overall gender breakdown for spec script deals: 8 deals of 55 involved female writers or 14.5%.
