Spec Script Market Scorecard (through August 15th)

Jason Scoggins is back with another Spec Script Market Scorecard. Here’s a worthy quote:

Which leads me to my other minor observation: The spec market may be moribund, but
good writing can still move the needle. APA and Circle of Confusion took out Max
Landis? thriller spec “Chronicle” at the beginning of August, which isn?t exactly the most
auspicious of sales months even in a vibrant market. Yet the script sold within a week
to big Fox (its first spec purchase of the year) for Davis to produce, and small wonder:
Almost all of my tracking board compatriots thought the writing was great. One grain of
salt: They were all previous fans of Landis. But I still choose to take the sale as a
reminder that good material will out. And hope springs eternal that we?ll see a bunch of
strong scripts hit the market next month.

Good material. Even more important in a slow sales market.
