Spec Script Sale: “Almanac”

Paramount acquires found-footage spec script “Almanac” from first-time writers Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan. From THR:

The duo wrote the script on spec and spent the past year developing it with Platinum Dunes.

No details about Almanac were given other than it is intended to be a found-footage project and that Paramount intends to move aggressively and swiftly with it.

Stark and Pagan are repped by WME.

By my count, this is the 78th spec script sale in 2012.

There were 73 spec script sales by this time last year.

The 78th spec script didn’t sell last year until October 13th.

Spec script sales are up 6% year-to-date compared to 2011.
