Code Entertainment acquires romantic comedy spec script “Atom And Eve” from writers Ethan Furman and Adam Farasati. From Deadline:
Script is a romantic comedy in which a recently jilted young computer scientist needs to impress her family by pretending that her humanoid artificial intelligence robot is actually her boyfriend.
Seems like it’s been a while since we’ve seen a rom-com sale. Good to see.
Furman and Farasati are repped by Gersh and Magnet Management.
By my count, this is the 58th spec script sale in 2012.
There were 43 spec sales by this date last year.
The 58th spec sale didn’t happen last year until August 1.
Spec sales are up 26% year-to-date compared to last year.
