Spec Script Sale: “Glimmer”
DreamWorks wins a bidding war to acquire found footage spec “Glimmer” from writer Carter Blanchard. From THR:
The logline is unknown but is described as Amblin-esque.
The bidding came out down to DreamWorks and Paramount, with DreamWorks closing a deal a progress to production term
Two or more bidders = bidding war. Deadline is reporting there were six interested buyers. Deal: Mid-six figures.
Congrats to Mr. Blanchard!
Also nice to see DreamWorks back in the buyers circle again.
Blanchard is repped by Paradigm and Madhouse Entertainment.
By my count, this is the 53rd spec script sale in 2012.
There were 43 spec sales at this time last year.
The 53rd spec script didn’t sell last year until July 11.
Spec script sales are up19% year-to-date compared to 2011.
UPDATE: TheWrap is reporting the plot also involves time travel.
