Spec Script Sale: “Guys Night”

Millennium Films acquires comedy spec script “Guys Night” from writer Chris Baldi. Per Variety:

Story centers on four guys stuck in dead-end jobs and not-much-better relationships who hear about a mystery island off the coast of New Jersey where anything goes. One night, they set off in search of adventure — but everything that can go wrong does.

I’m a sucker for compressed time movies such as one-night stories. So much easier to write in some ways because you can create and sustain pace, no messy time ellipses to handle.

Note: Chris Baldi has sold three spec scripts this year. In addition to “Guys Night”:

“Scavengers” [March 10, 2011]

“Rockabye Baby” [June 26, 2011]

Baldi is repped by CAA and New Wave Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 97th spec script sale of 2011.

Only 55 spec scripts sold in 2010.

Only 68 spec scripts sold in 2009.

Spec script sales are up 87% year-to-date over last year.
