Spec Script Sale: “In the Event of a Moon Disaster”

Film Nation acquires sci-fi thriller spec “In the Event of a Moon Disaster” from writer Mike Jones. Per Deadline:

…script that re-imagines the first moon mission. In this version, disaster strikes and the astronauts find themselves up against insurmountable odds.

Interesting. A human being hasn’t set foot on the Moon in four decades, yet we’ve had a flurry of lunar movies the last few years: Moon, Apollo 18 come to mind. Now this spec sale.

Jones is repped by CAA and the Gotham Group.

By my count, that is the 61st spec script to sell in 2011.

Only 55 spec scripts sold in 2010.

Spec sales are up 79% over last year at this time.
