Spec script sale: “Jitters”

Paramount buys “Jitters”, spec script from writer Marc Haimes:

The DreamWorks executive-turned-screenwriter has sold his original screenplay “Jitters” to Paramount. The sale comes seven months after he sold his first screenplay, the thriller “Elevator Men,” to Summit Entertainment after leaving DreamWorks.

Benderspink, which manages Haimes, is attached to produce “Jitters,” a creepy family film in the early-’80s Amblin mold (think “Gremlins”).

This is Haimes’ first screenplay. He is finishing a second spec called “Jitters,” a family film he describes as in the “traditional Amblin” mold.

“It’s a totally different muscle,” Haimes said of segueing from the studio creative side to original storytelling. “It’s like Dave Grohl playing drums for Nirvana and then taking on a different instrument in the Foo Fighters.”
