Spec Script Sale: “Man at Arms”
Echo Lake buys medieval action script “Man at Arms” from writer Jeremy Lott:
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but “Arms” focuses on Lancelot and his adventures after the breakup of Camelot.
And note this:
Lott wrote the script as a spec that made the rounds, and while it initially didn’t sell, it got him an assignment to adapt, with “Priest” writer Cory Goodman, the IDW comic “Lore” that’s being produced by Andrew Lazar.
As discussed often on GITS, there are many values of a spec script, even if it doesn’t sell, one of them being that you can use it as a writing sample to go up for writing assignments. And sometimes, as in the case of “Man at Arms,” when you get hot or the market changes, you can resurrect your spec and sell it.
