Spec Script Sale: “Peste”

IM Global Octane, the genre wing of IM Global, acquires horror-thriller spec script “Peste” from writers Barbara Marshall. From Deadline:

A teenage girl begins a video documentary about her life for a school project just as a terrifying virus sweeps through her small town. Quarantined with her family, she thinks they are out of harm’s way, but she soon learns that the virus has invaded their house. Her video documents the family’s frantic struggle to find a cure before they are completely taken over by the Peste.

Script made the Black List, Hit List, and Blood List.

Marshall is repped by APA and Industry Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 95th spec script sale in 2012.

At this point last year, there were 110 spec sales.

Spec script sales are down 16% year-to-date compared to 2011.

Note: I will be reviewing all deals in 2012 and there are likely to be some more spec sales for this year. More soon.
