Spec Script Sale: “Sex Tape”
Sony Pics buys comedy spec script “Sex Tape” from writer Kate Angelo in seven-figure deal. Per Deadline:
A married couple who get a night off from their kids, get adventurous and decide to spice up their lives by making a sex tape. When they wake the following morning, the tape is missing, and they must find out who took it and how to get it back.
Talk about a no-brainer. And that idea has been sitting in plain view for years and years. It’s a strong story conceit (couple makes a sex tape), conflict (lose the tape), goal (find the tape), and ticking clock (what if other people get hold of it first). That’s the stuff of a strong high concept.
Angelo is repped by UTA.
By my count, that is the 38th spec script to sell in 2011.
The 38th spec script didn’t sell in 2010 until September 23rd.
