Spec Script Sale: “Son of a Bitch”

Warner Bros. acquires comedy spec script “Son of a Bitch” from writer Kelly Oxford. From InsideMovies:

A young stoner who tries to maintain her popular party image even after discovering she’s pregnant.

Oxford is a housewife, mother of three from Calgary, Canada, but has a devoted Twitter following [@kellyoxford] because of her “biting, edgy humor.”

Oxford is repped by WME.

Deal is for low to mid-six figures and was a preemptive purchase.

By my count, this is the 42nd spec script sale in 2012.

There were 32 spec sales at this time last year.

Spec sales are up 31% year-to-date compared to 2011.
