Spec Script Sale: “The Envoy”

Warner Bros. acquires action-thriller spec script “The Envoy” from writer Robert Lynn. From THR:

The story centers on young diplomatic courier whose routine delivery turns deadly when it’s discovered the sensitive information he carries contains stolen plans for an attack on American interests. He must make it to the American embassy in Vienna while various forces try to stop him.

Remember “Project Greenlight”? Check this out:

Lynn was a scribe contestant on Project: Greenlight who went on to write and direct several low-budget flicks. This is his first major sale.

Lynn is repped by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 72nd spec script to sell in 2011.

In 2010, only 55 spec scripts sold.

Spec script sales are up 67%.
