Spec Script Sale: “The Join”

Legendary Pictures acquires sci-fi thriller spec script “The Join” from writer Justin Rhodes. From Variety:

Set in the wake of a terrible particle accelerator accident, story follows a first response hazmat team sent in to investigate, only to find themselves targeted for assassination as soon as they emerge.
Pic is described as being in the vein of “Three Days of the Condor,” crossed with psychologically-complex pics “Inception” and “Looper.”
Rhodes has been making a name for himself in the feature realm, selling sci-fi thriller “Second Sun” to Warner Bros. and military action-thriller “In Enemy Waters” to Lionsgate/Summit.

This deal makes me very happy. I’ve known Justin for a few years now, another writer I’ve met through this crazy blog. Justin is a talented writer and a really good guy.

Hollywood: More of this please!

He is repped by ICM Partners and Madhouse Entertainment.

By my count, this is the 79th spec script sale in 2012.

There were 79 spec script sales by this time last year.

Spec script sales are even year-to-date compared to 2011.
