Story Idea Each Day for a Month — Day 29

Okay, we’ve all heard about the recent offshore oil rig explosion in the Gulf Coast. That got me thinking about a story set on one of those units. Here’s a photo:

So you’ve got your beginning. And your ending. Just need to figure out the rest of it!

We’ve had siege movies set in skyscrapers (Die Hard), battleships (Under Siege), airplanes (Air Force One, Passenger 57), buses (Speed), space ships (Alien), and so on. Why not an offshore oil rig?

Could be some sort of terrorist thing (eco-terrorist, tea party terrorist, Middle Eastern terrorist) with a twist (takeover actually a ploy by oil company to destroy oil rig, collect insurance money, and cause a spike in the price of crude oil).

Or what about a haunted oil rig?

Anything there?
