Story Idea Each Day for a Month — Day 30
The final story idea in this month-long series comes from a GITS reader Anthony Williams. He sent it to me via email:
Hi Scott,
There was a small story reported in the last month about a photograph on the Bralorne Pioneer Museum website, of a group of people watching the reopening of the South Fork Bridge after flood in 1940. The crowd consists of ordinary looking 1940s folk, but one — the guy with the sunglasses and printed t-shirt — appears to stand out from the rest. It definitely sparked my imagination.

When I first saw the photo I was like ‘Woah, that’s cool!’, but it would appear, with maybe the exception of his printed t-shirt, nothing else he is wearing is spectacular of the time.
I just thought you may find it of interest and could potentially be used as a ‘Story Idea Each Day for a Month’ if you found it interesting enough and didn’t already have a story in place.

Check out the dude in sunglasses in the back row. Looks like your typical latte sipping, iMac pro typing, screenwriter wannabe camped out at a coffee shop on Melrose to me.
The article is a fun dissection of the mystery, but beyond that it does spark some ideas about a possible movie.
What if a timid researcher (our story’s Protagonist) happens to see two photograph 75 years apart that feature the same person ala the dude in the photo above?
What if the P digs a little deeper and finds a group of other oddball types who are also on the trail of the mysterious man in the photos — and they have even more evidence of the dude’s time traveling, not just photos, but lithographs, paintings, mosaics.
Who is the guy? Does he still exist? And has he really been alive for hundreds of years?

This weekend, I’ll be posting a bunch of story ideas that didn’t make the cut for this series, essentially the scrapheap. But you never know what might inspire your creativity.
Then on Monday, I’m going to post something that explains what the hell I was thinking in posting 30 story ideas in 30 days — all of them free for the taking — and attempt to answer the question if I am, indeed, clinically insane!
