Update: GITS Meet-Up: L.A. — Photos!
The recent inaugural GITS Meet-Up: L.A. last Saturday was, by all accounts, a big success. There were at least 30 attendees including Franklin Leonard. Many thanks to co-hosts Annika Wood and Nate Winslow, and to The Cat & Fiddle Pub for providing a venue for the event.
Annika was thoughtful enough to take some photos and you can go to the new GITS Facebook page to check them out. While you’re there, if you’d Like the page, that would be ultra groovy.
Rumor has it that the L.A. folks discussed having monthly Meet-Ups at rotating locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Great to hear.
Tomorrow I’ll be soliciting potential interest in Meet-Ups at a few more cities resulting from emails and comments I’ve received from various writers. This is a grass roots thing, but one I heartily endorse. It’s always great for writers to socialize, seeing as what we do is so often a rather lonely task. Plus networking is an important aspect of being a screenwriter. Finally you just never know what good things can happen when writers get together, everything from creating script reading groups to organizing table reads to finding writing partners, and so on.
Meanwhile congrats to the GITS Meet-Up: Ann Arbor and GITS Meet-Up: L.A. groups! May you continue to meet and support each other’s creative endeavors!
