Going into this project, I wanted to create a process whereby everyone would benefit, even if they didn’t get selected for “The Quest.” That was the reasoning behind my decision to give each person who submits a logline the opportunity to take a free 1-week Core or Craft course with me through Screenwriting Master Class.
In addition, I figured we could engage in a conversation during the submission period about story concepts and loglines. That’s why I have posted these:

All this to underscore how critically important a story idea is to the success of your script.
Some random thoughts as we approach the end of the submission process.
First off, I had no idea this thing would take off like it has. The last 36 hours especially have been crazy. Clearly there are a lot of people out there who love movies and are working their creative and storytelling muscles.
Also clearly I’m going to need more time to review all of the loglines. I need to process everything and catch my breath this weekend. On Monday, I will post something on GITS that explains next steps, but I will definitely push everything back at least one week.
Here’s the thing: I am reading every single one of your loglines. I have already reviewed 600. And I am taking my time, actually asking myself of every logline the same question I suggested you ask yourself: Is this a movie?
I’m guessing there will 3000+ loglines. I want to make sure I give each and every one of them the respect they deserve. You deserve.
I’ll probably post some reflections over the weekend, no news, just thoughts on the process. But don’t expect any real news until Monday.
Two last things. As you know, I offered a free Core or Craft Screenwriting Master Class course to every participant in this event. I will honor that commitment. I’ve already got some ideas about how to do that. You can expect an announcement about that next week, too.
Finally I want to congratulate you. I have pushed you to come up with more and better ideas. It’s hard coming up with a great story concept. Yet each of you put in the time and effort to write one logline, many of you multiple stories. Then you had the guts to send it off. I applaud your courage.
No matter what happens, you should build on this. Read scripts. Watch movies. Write pages. And now add this to your tasks: Think concepts.
Every day, come up with story ideas, always pushing yourself to come up with a killer movie concept.
