Video Interview: Stephen King

To cap off horror week here on GITS and in honor of Halloween, today a treasure trove of interviews with writer Stephen King. We think of him primarily as a novelist, but King has several screenwriting credits including Creepshow, Cat’s Eye, Silver Bullet, Maximum Overdrive, Pet Sematary, Sleepwalkers , and “The Shining” (TV mini-series).

And finally Stephen King: Yale (4/21/2003): Advice to young writers

Quote: “I think you ought to read a lot and I think you ought to write a lot. Those are really the two major things, you can’t put it off. You have to really do the work, you have to be well read. I don’t have patience for people who say, ‘I want to be a writer, but I don’t have time to read.’ If you don’t have time to read, you can’t be a writer. You’ve got to read just about everything… There’s a magic moment if you read enough, where you put down some book and say, ‘This really sucks. I can do better than this.’”
