Wanted: Daily Dialogue Theme-Of-The-Week

Got an email from Ryan Mullaney:

First of all, love your site. Amazing resource and lots of new info daily. Great job on keeping it active. I just dread being away from the internet for a day or two and having to play catch-up!

Anyway, here’s an idea of the Theme of the Week for Daily Dialogue — character’s introducing themselves.

Of course, there’s the famous “Bond. James Bond.” and probably a few other obvious ones, but I think it would be interesting to look at what kind of information is revealed about a character (other than their name) when they tell someone else who they are. Unforgiven comes to mind: when Eastwood introduces himself to Little Bill at the end, explaining that he’s killed everything that walked or crawled, which gives us insight into Eastwood’s character and what he thinks about himself at that point in the story, and how he’s changed since we first met him.

That could be a good one. After all, each of us has to introduce several characters per script. What are some good examples of how characters introduce themselves in ways that reveal something key about their personality?
