Why haven’t you finished that script?

You know, that one you’ve been kicking around for months. Maybe it’s pretty well worked out, but you just can’t summon up the energy to type FADE IN. Perhaps you’ve finished a draft, but you know it needs work. Or a partial draft and you’re stuck, not sure which way to go.

The simple fact is an unfinished script is nothing but potential. And nothing but potential is… nothing.

Maybe what you could use is this.

A structured environment with actual due dates to inspire you to knock out pages.

A workshop where you receive constructive feedback from a group of writing peers.

A mentor who is a professional screenwriter and educator to accompany you on your writing journey.

That’s what we offer at Screenwriting Master Class with our two Pages classes. And new sessions of these 10-week online courses begin Monday, July 9.

Pages I: The First Draft: 10 lectures [written by me] to spur your creativity and guide your process, 10 due dates to motivate you to get from FADE IN to FADE OUT. If you are comfortable with the sequence approach to screenwriting, you will feel right at home in this course. If story structure is a weak point in your understanding of the craft, this workshop will help you ground your understanding. Mentor: Scott Myers

Pages II: Rewriting Your Script: Your mentor for this workshop is Tom Benedek who has taught a screenplay rewrite course several times in the MFA program at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. Everybody says, “Writing is rewriting,” but how? Tom puts skin on those bones in this 10-week class to help you take your current draft to the next level.

We cap the number of writers we accept in these workshops in order to keep the group small which allows Tom and myself adequate time to focus on each writer’s story, providing extensive notes, both written and oral [the latter through a series of live teleconferences]. So the time to enroll is now.

If you haven’t finished that script, here’s an opportunity not only to get to FADE OUT, but also learn a process you can use again for all your future writing projects.

As always we look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

UPDATE: I’ve had some people email about the Pages I class a similar question: Is this the same approach / workshop as the Pages part of “The Quest”. The answer is yes. Same lectures, same workshop approach, same mentoring from me.
