Will spec sales hit 100 in 2011?

By my count as of today, there have been 96 spec script sales in 2011. This marks a significant reversal in the spec script market trendline the last several years:

2008: 88

2009: 68

2010: 55

2011: 96

Then there is the more symbolic question: Will sales hit the 100 mark for the year? For historical perspective, here are the number of spec scripts that have sold between 11/20–12/31 for the last three years:

2008: 3

2009: 6

2010: 4

Those numbers suggest it is possible we will hit 100 spec script sales for the year.

Of course, that is important only as a symbolic measure as I doubt it has any real psychological meaning to people in Hollywood…

Unless we start a meme.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s see how sales round out this year.

BTW the first week of January 2012, I will run a contest where any of us can predict the number of specs to sell next year.
