Writing question: Is there an author writing the novel of your life?
Bumping around the web, I found this:
In his later years, [Joseph Campbell] was fond of recalling how Schopenhauer, in his essay On the Apparent Intention in the Fate of the Individual, wrote of the curious feeling one can have, of there being an author somewhere writing the novel of our lives [emphasis added], in such a way that through events that seem to us to be chance happenings there is actually a plot unfolding of which we have no knowledge.
Curious if any GITS readers feel that way. Do you feel like the Protagonist in your own story? That there is an ‘author’ involved in the plotting the chance events of your life?
I could be talking about God. Fate. Or something unknown or unknowable, but equally as mysterious.
