Daily Dialogue — April 24, 2016
“Take her to the moon for me. Okay?”
— Inside Out (2015), screenplay by Pete Docter & Meg LeFauve & Josh Cooley, story by Pete Docter & Ronnie Del Carmen, additional dialogue by Bill Hader and Amy Poehler, additional material by Michael Arndt
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Pixar.
Trivia: Director Pete Docter has said that Bing Bong’s voice actor, Richard Kind, was actually crying while recording the line, “Take her to the moon for me, okay?”
Dialogue On Dialogue: I don’t know anyone who saw this movie who wasn’t moved by the Bing Bong storyline. If you watch the clip, you’ll notice Bing Bong sets up his decision to leave the wagon when, after two failed attempts, he says to Joy, “Come on, Joy, one more time. I got a feeling about this one.”
Joseph Campbell said a hero is someone who gives him/herself over to a cause bigger than themselves. In that regard, Bing Bong is clearly a hero.
