Daily Dialogue — August 23, 2013

Forrest: You’re a mama, Jenny.
Jenny: I’m a mama. His name’s Forrest.
Forrest: Like me.
Jenny: I named him after his daddy.
Forrest: He got a daddy named Forrest, too?
Jenny: You’re his daddy, Forrest.

The realization hist Forrest who backs away.

Jenny: Hey. Forrest look at me. Look at me, Forrest.

She takes his hand.

Jenny: There’s nothing you need to do, you didn’t do anything wrong. Okay?

They look at Forrest Jr. in the other room watching TV.

Jenny: Isn’t he beautiful?
Forrest: He’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. But… is he smart… or is he, he…
Jenny: He’s very smart. One of the smartest in the class.

Forrest composes himself, eyeing his son.

Jenny: Yeah, it’s okay. Go talk to him.

Dialogue On Dialogue: A double whammy for Forrest: First to learn he’s a father. Then to confront the possibility that the boy may be ‘unusual’ like Forrest. Shock. Fear. Joy. All in the space of a few seconds, the reason why Forrest is overcome with emotion.
