Daily Dialogue — December 18, 2011
Elevator Passenger: Cool Spidey outfit.
Spider-Man: Thanks.
Elevator Passenger: Where’d you get it?
Spider-Man: I… made it.
Elevator Passenger: Hm. Looks uncomfortable.
Spider-Man: It gets kinda itchy. And it rides up in the crotch a little bit, too.
— Elevator Passenger (Hal Sparks), Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire), Spider-Man 2 (2004), screenplay by Alvin Sargent, screen story by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar and Michael Chabon, based on the comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko
The Daily Dialogue theme for the week is elevators, suggested by Summertime.
Trivia: Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s initial script draft had Spider-Man doing battle with Doctor Octopus, the Lizard and Black Cat.
Dialogue On Dialogue: I never recommend including scenes like this in a selling script because it doesn’t nothing to advance the plot. However in a successful franchise like this, there’s a certain amount of latitude to drop in a scene simply for entertainment value.
