Trivia: John Sayles financed most of this movie himself. According to Wikipedia, “Sayles describes this movie as being about the immigrant experience of assimilation. He spent part of his MacArthur Fellows ‘genius’ grant on the film, which cost $350,000 to produce.”

Dialogue On Dialogue: It’s the original Men In Black. And while the two aliens (John Sayles, David Strathairn) may not qualify as a full-blown invasion, their presence in the movie — hunting down escaped alien ‘The Brother’ —provides both a Nemesis function and comic relief.
