Daily Dialogue — February 16, 2016

“You think I’m crazy? Well, listen up, there’s a storm coming like nothing you’ve ever seen, and not a one of you is prepared for it.”

Take Shelter (2011), written by Jeff Nichols

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week: Obsession, suggested by Angie Soliman.

Trivia: Michael Shannon purposely didn’t read up on mental illnesses before taking on the role as Curtis, as this is something the character himself knew little about.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Plot summary: “Plagued by a series of apocalyptic visions, a young husband (Curtis) and father questions whether to shelter his family from a coming storm, or from himself.” This scene is a culmination of a simmering attitudes toward Curtis who locals believe is “crazy” due to his obsession with the oncoming “storm”.
