Daily Dialogue — July 28, 2016

Jenny: His name’s Forrest.
Forrest: Like me.
Jenny: I named him after his daddy.
Forrest: He got a daddy named Forrest, too?
Jenny: You’re his daddy, Forrest.

Forrest is stunned. He steps back. Jenny moves toward him.

Jenny: Hey, Forrest, look at me. There’s nothing you need to do, you didn’t do anything wrong, okay? [She turns to look at young Forrest] Isn’t he beautiful?
Forrest Gump: He’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, but… is he smart or is he… ?
Jenny Curran: He’s very smart, he’s one of the smartest in his class.

Dialogue On Dialogue: When Forrest learns he’s young Forrest’s father, he is apprehensive that his son is not smart. It’s a beautiful and touching moment, apprehension as a deeply human emotion.
