Daily Dialogue — May 24, 2013

Troy: Got a pothead mama, got a cokehead dad. I’m the ultra-modern version of the American man. Don’t feel good, but don’t feel bad. Cause me, you see, I’m nuthin’. I ain’t left, I ain’t right. I feel so alone. Before I was born, I was all gone. Don’t even make sense that I wrote this song. Cause…
Sammy: Tell me it’s not true.
Troy: …me, you see, I’m nuthin’. I’m nuthin’. Nuthin’. That’s me. I’m nuthin’.
Vickie: Lainie, sex is the quickest way to ruin a friendship. Come on.
Troy: Thank you! We’ll be right back with a new American cheese snack idea.

Reality Bites (1994), written by Helen Childress

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week is original composition [song/poem], sugggested by churnage. Today’s suggestion by Daniel Cossu.

Trivia: Original drafts of the script included a subplot involving Lelaina’s alcoholic sister Patty, who was in rehab. A couple of those scenes were actually filmed but ended up getting cut. Patty was played by screenwriter Helen Childress’ real-life sister, Patricia Childress.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary by Daniel: “Hiding behind humor and sarcasm in life, Troy is only able to express his feelings through song.”
