Kate: Sorry about last night, I was very tired. [pause] I’m less tired now, though…
Dexter: I’m not tired either.
Kate: Great. Two people… on their own… in the middle of the afternoon… and not tired.

The Daily Dialogue theme for the week is sex scene, suggested by Dean Scott. Today’s suggestion by Barbara Thomas.

Trivia: Writer Richard Curtis can be seen briefly — he’s the bearded man who Dexter passes on his way to the toilet during his date with Tamara.

Dialogue On Dialogue: Commentary from Barbara: Dexter (Jeff Goldblum) and Kate (Emma Thompson) had an abbreviated first date because Kate was very tired. So Dexter comes around the next day.

What follows is an earth-shattering, apartment destroying, piano-banging hilarious romp with no dialogue (except when Dexter’s hay fever acts up while he’s going down on Kate under her down comforter).

But the kicker is in the next scene.

In the post coital afterglow, Dexter realizes he’s late for work (he’s an actor), and races off to the West End, encountering a hooker in the alley behind the theater.

Prostitute: Fancy a fuck?

Dexter: No thanks, just had one.
