Trivia: Writer/director Joe Cornish was inspired to make this film after actually being mugged in real-life one night (much in the same way Sam was as portrayed in the film). He noticed his five young assailants were as scared as he was, and started researching their lives.

Dialogue On Dialogue: The line of dialogue above summarizes quite neatly the central concept of the story, how a South London gang of teenagers successfully defended the block where they live from an alien invasion. Also note: The movie starts John Boyega who later on went on to start in another science fiction movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
