GITS Live Blogging Event!

I’m going to try an experiment. A GITS live blogging event. Very simple. I set up and publicize a time where I will be live-and-in-person [virtually] at this blog. At the top of the appointed hour, I will launch a live blogging post. And for the next hour, I will interact online in that post’s Comments thread with anybody who shows up.

You have a question? Post it in Comments. I will answer.

You have a suggestion? Post it in Comments. I will respond.

You want to talk to each other? Post your greetings and witticisms in Comments. I will admire your work.

I’m curious to see what will happen. Maybe I’ll post something and it will be all virtual tumbleweeds and crickets, nary a soul in sight. Or maybe folks will show up and we’ll have a rocking good time.

So here’s what I’m thinking in terms of a time to try this.

For this experiment, I have to be thinking about folks in the U.S. time zones [if this thing actually works, I’ll be happy to do other live blogging events with schedules for people living internationally].

Can’t set it up during people’s workday, so how about the weekend?

I know the site gets a spike in traffic on Sunday nights as people wind their way back to their computers in anticipation of the beginning of the week.

So how about for the experiment we target this: Sunday, October 23 at 9PM EDT / 6PM PDT?

If people respond to this idea, I will check to see if there are live-chat room plug-ins or apps for possible future live-blogging events.

But for now, let me know if you’re interested in ‘chatting’ online. Would you be interested in doing that this Sunday at 9PM EDT / 6PM PDT?
