GITS Meet-Up: L.A. — When, Where, Why!

It’s official! The first GITS Meet-Up: L.A. is on!

When: Saturday, November 5 from 5PM-???

Where: The Cat and Fiddle Restaurant and Pub (http://www.thecatandfiddle.com/), 6530 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90028, (323) 468–3800.

Why: For Southern California-based writers and GITS readers to socialize.

Thanks to Annika Wood and Nate Winslow for coordinating the event. Here’s a funny bit of business from Annika:

When I called to make sure the Cat & the Fiddle Pub was cool with a GITS meet-up, the manager had never heard of Go Into the Story, so I decided to pull out the big guns, especially since the Cat & the Fiddle is located smack dab in the middle of Hollywood.

“It’s the official blog for The Black List.”

“The Black List? Isn’t that, like, for people who can’t write?”

“No, no,” I said. “The Black List is full of very good writers, they just write spec scripts — “

“SEX SCRIPTS?!”

Needless to say, it took me a little while to figure out she was referring to the historical blacklist. Once we got it all untangled, she said we’d be welcome there. It’s a cash bar, but they’ll be whipping up a drink special for us: Magic-Hour Mimosas.

Even if I won’t be able to attend, it sounds like the creative juju will be flowing!

When you show up, just ask someone who works there for the Go Into The Story group or find Annika, who will be wearing a black feather boa to make her easy to spot. Not sure how Nate will be attired, but when he figures that out, we’ll let you know.
