GITS Script Reading & Analysis: November possibilites (Part 2)
Based off these comments, why don’t we do this:
Week 1: Romantic Comedy
Week 2: Horror Comedy
Week 3: Contained Thriller
Week 4: Charlie Kaufman
Don’t worry, we’ll get to your other suggestions in December. What’s interesting here is the contrast between the first two weeks, both comedies, but substantially different sub-genres.
Contained thriller is still a pretty hot sub-genre in Hollywood.
And Charlie Kaufman is… well, Charlie Kaufman.
Romantic Comedy: There are dozens and dozens to choose from.
Horror Comedy: Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead [but is the script available anywhere?], what else? Unless someone comes in with a real winner, Zombieland would be a great choice because of how hot zombies are right now and this particular movie did so well, it’s being developed as a TV series.
Contained Thriller: Buried comes to mind especially because of the unique challenges of telling a story within a coffin.
Charlie Kaufman: Pick any of his scripts — Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine. Any of them would be an excellent read.
So suggest away in Comments and let’s lock down our next four scripts to read.
