Interview (Written): Lindsay Devlin (“Devil’s Due”)

A feature in the Detroit Free Press on hometown girl made good Lindsay Devlin who wrote the script Devil’s Due which opens in theaters this weekend:

For Devlin, the idea for the story started with a dream she had in spring 2012 about a paranormal pregnancy.

“I started thinking about my dream and the reality of what my friends were talking about as new mothers,” she says during a phone interview from Los Angeles.

Her third screenplay, “Devil’s Due,” went from zero to 100 miles per hour in terms of its development.

“From the day I pitched it and sold it to the day we wrapped production was a year. That’s just crazy fast in Hollywood.” she says.

Devlin thinks “Devil’s Due” represents an allegory for the natural concerns of young couples.

“For women, I think a lot of us have that hidden fear, inherent fear, of what does happen to our bodies and the loss of control of pregnancy, but I think (it’s) even more so for men, because they stand on the outside watching their partners go through something they can’t really help with or control either,” she says.
