Spec Script Sale: “ARES”

Paramount Pictures acquires action adventure science fiction spec script “ARES” written by Michael Starrbury. From THR:

Plot details are being kept sealed shut, but the title is said to be in the vein of Indiana Jones and Men in Black in what the studio hopes will start a franchise. (ARES is an acronym for Allied Recovery of the Extraordinary and Supernatural.)

That makes three spec script sales announced in 24 hours, two by Paramount.

Starburry is repped by CAA and Circle of Confusion.

By my count, this is the 57th spec script sale of 2014.

There were 92 spec script sales year-to-date in 2013.
